wow. The whole trailer park is riled up. Gonna give me a good whuppin and all that hillbilly BS. But y'all have changed my mind. Who would want to live in the financial/communications/fashion/ etc. capital of the world when they can get themselves a nice double wide down near the swamp? Plus getting to talk with all you highly educated, interesting. accomplished people. Caint beat it.

Please keep in mind that the median family incomes were capped to exclude the top 20% of communities where median household incomes are over $115,600.
So, this list is actually the top 10 places to raise kids for the lower 80% of median income household communities in the country.
I live in Cranberry Township, PA (ranked #4) for 20 years and have raised two daughters. It is a wonderful place to live and raise children.
Our community is quite diverse in terms of socioeconomic status. There are housing plans to meet all levels of income.

I noticed culture was not among the criteria. I also noticed that most of these places are are very segregated. NYC maybe not be perfect but as far as culture, friendship ,socialization, and yes schools we are hands fdowen the best place in the world to raise a well socialized successful adult. The NYC school system while not perfect we have some of the best teachers in the country. It seems like more important, successful, and yes funniest people grew up here. SO you can keep Tennessee and Mississippi give me and my family the Big Apple!!!

Ashland, Oregon is a very nice place to raise kids. 4 seasons of weather, thousands of places to visit in the Summer and a ski area just a few miles from downtown. Very friendly people, a beautiful park in the center of town. A wonderful place. As for places in the South, sorry I will pass on fire ants, chiggers and copper heads.

Lookng back on everything from at about 50 yrs of age, the best place to raise your kids is as close to where you and your ancestors were raised as possible.
It's a people world and when there's a problem or a solution, your familiarity with the PEOPLE in the area is going to make the difference in whether or not you can solve or implement it.
What seems worth moving away for today, will never be worth being able to go over to the mayor or school board president's house and say, "Hey Frank, can we talk for a few minutes?".

I didn't see one face that didn't look caucasian. Is this an article about where caucasian people should move to raise their kids to be close minded and uncomfortable with diversity? I'm caucasian and I was uncomfortable because I felt the subliminal/underlying message of this article. Whey do allow myself to read these articles? Help!!!
