Use a shallow plates, pie pans filled about 1/2 way with beer in garden areas to get rid of slugs-mainly around tomato plants- or bury bottles of beer 3/4 into ground, as a neighbor used a blub planter. Slugs are attracted to the beer and merely climb into container/trap and drown...  Use shallow plates or pie pans with Mt. Dew or Mellow Yellow, mixed with some dish soap as flies, flying ants, mosquitoes ,wasps, and other flying pests are attracted to the pop- as they land and go after the pop, but dish soap gets onto their wings-drowning them. Great option several hours, just prior or during a cook-out, deck party or while entertaining outside... Have also used and eliminated Asian Ladybugs, which leave orange spots on ones skin and elsewhere...  Cascade dish soap also eliminates many insects when used in hose sprayer or mixed with water in pump sprayers- as it contains phosphorus which is good for lawns too....

If all these "natural" cheap home things work so great then why isn't somebody mixing them up, packaging them and making a killing?  I mean a financial killing?  Sure would save me time looking around for eoudifwoj foweurw  oil of the western hymalayin national forest to kill a gnat in my yard.

DO NOT USE ORTHO INSECT KILLER FOR VEG'S. AND FLOWERS.  I initially bought it for my husbands pepper plants that we were noticing holes in the leaves.  So; I then used it for my corn, tomatoes, peas, lettuce, and more.  It killed all of my plants.  But, his peppers thrived.  That really ticked me off.

Boric acid sprinkled for a roach dinner. They love it, eat it, and since they have an exoskeleton, explode The absolute best way to rid yourself of roaches. Really works. Better than any chemicals you can buy.

As new roaches hatch they too are  finished off. /Try it, you'.ll be grateful.

I live in Tampa, FL.  I used the oil and soap mixture, the vinegar and water mixture, the tea tree oil mixture, the garlic and cayenne powder mixture and the Listerine mixture.  All of my squash plants are now destroyed, to include pumpkin, summer squash, and red Greek squash.  My cucumber now have all the pest that killed the other squash plants.  Even my corn has started turning yellow and wilting away.  My okra, tomatoes, lettuce, collards, pole beans and watermelons are now getting holes in all of their leaves.  Judging by the look of things, these remedies only exacerbated the pest destruction that was already there but was manageable.  My entire summer crop is ruined because of the 3 remedies on here that I tried.  I definitely will not be using these for my fall crop.

Grits killing ants belongs on the urban legend website.  I guess people like the fable of the ants swelling up and dying too much.  Believe what you want to believe.  No science here.

compost and mulch around your house is a home to bugs' and they dray moles and skunks, if you see your lawn tore up in spots that is a skunk looking for Grubs that come from the compost and in turn if not treated there will be moles later==fact

I have high concentration of CaCO3 in my water, so I clean my coffee pot regularly with a 1/2-1/2 vinegar to water solution.  In the winter, I pour it hot down the kitchen sink drains to keep them running free (safe for septic systems!); in the summer, the same hot mixture gets poured on the dandelions that grow in the joint between the garage pad and the driveway.

What can I do to kill a sumac tree in my flowerbed?  It is almost ten feet tall, and an inch or more around.  The bed is on a terrace, so it is hard to get a good balanced stance.  Would the boiling water do it, or would that kill the other plants?  Thank you!

I use Vinegar purchased at Grocery store and going bad sitting around in my kitchen/garage waiting to be cooked/used. The 5% acid base in Vinegar will kill any/all grass/weeds growing in between bricks, in driveway cracks and anywhere else/requires 2 applications. Smells a little like a salad but  does the trick without harming the environment
