Young buyers love historic and older homes. I am one of those young nostalgic lovers, I should know :)

Our site has over 500K monthly visits from people looking to purchase old houses around the country. We list and market properties through our website, and all our social media accounts (thats where the young buyers are!).

Do you see that sign in front of the house? What is it selling, the house or the realtor?
Your yard sign is the single most important part of your marketing strategy, it should sell your house.
Go to amazon, com and look at the sign in my book.
Do it right and 1 out of 5 buyers will make you an offer

Advertise the house in spanish. Say that the house is near drug traffic lanes. The nearest school is spanosh only. The meix-can flag flyes above the door. Also put in there that human slave traffic goes on all night in the house and that the house can fit 12 families and the illegal's will be beating your door down to buy.

Old homes can be a plus or minus depending on maintenance and upkeep.
There are many homes in Oaklyn, NJ that are for sale with very few having
nothing more than a coat of paint over them.

Buyers must also beware that sometimes Real Estate companies will NEVER
advise you if there is additional work that will often not have been addressed
prior to the sale.

I live next door to a house that was vacant for two years and eventually went to an
auction block. Although the buyer believed it was a wise investment the realtor never
mentioned squirrels in the attic, a chimney pulling away from the structure or even the
listing was incorrect and lied about its construction in 1959, when the home was actually
built in the years between 1900 - 1915

Home buyers, especially newer or younger ones need to be aware that often homes are improperly listed to make the listing more appealing for the sale.

The best advice I can offer is to check borough records for where you plan to move for actual
construction dates.

newer homes look and are built cheap, and they llok like it. Always buy an older home with charm and built when wood was good, not cheapo newer stuff

Old homes have charm if they are well kept.  Location is still everything, it's a plus.  Some old home have more lawn space than some new homes and that's a plus.

If you have an older home to put up for sale, just clean it up and list it.  I cannot see dumping money into it in the hopes some prospective buyer will like it.  Buyers need to realize that an older home is not going to be in pristine shape.
