I remember once a few years ago senate and congress voted themselves a $22,000 a year raise (in the middle of the night, hurried through and quietly tacked onto another bill that was being voted on) and their reason was the cost of living in DC was too high for them. They couldn't afford to buy a second home in the trendy and pricey suburbs of DC on what they were currently earning. These overpaid clowns ( both parties ) need to be tarred and feathered in public. Why is there such a broad difference of wages and benefits of govco employee's when compared to the private sector?? It's nothing short of outrageous and an "in your face, screw you" attitude of govco. I despise government employee's from the local munincipality levels on up to top levels in DC.  I'm sick of seeing wages, benefits and retirement perks beyond the level that private sector employee's can only dream about.

Sequester is doing nothing to hold back the wages of the government contractors. I think it should be obvious to the most casual observer that the Contractors are Sucking the life out of our government. The politicians and big wigs in charge are all in cahoots with the system of giving them huge truckloads of cash. Take a look at the wages for government workers, they are posted on line,  and see for yourself that almost NONE of the people who work for the government could live in these counties but they are paying for the contractor's big salaries because the lower paid government workers are being put on FURLOUGH to pay for the BIG CONTRACTS that exist. This is a SHAM that has been put on the American People (by our politicians) and as taxpayers we should demand that this STOP. Silicon Valley and some of the biggest industrial locations in the US don't even rate.  WHAT A DEAL!

If these areas are so rich, how come there are so many hungry and homeless people in these areas? How is it that for some people to live they have to shop at food pantries etc. to make their dollar stretch and cannot even find affordable housing so must make rooming houses of some homes?

How is that the '' plight of the poor is knocking at their doors'' and yet it seems that  these 'rich' people i.e. those supposed 'job creators' are not answering?

One other thing, working for a private contractor is not the same as being a public employee/ civil servant govt employee on the lower rung of the ladder.

What happened to the nearly 1 million govt employees that were furloughed, pink slipped and downsized out of their job? How are they doing and what are they doing now? Think they are still living in their overpriced real estate in the cities or the surrounding burbs?

By the way there are always pockets of wealthy people in every city, county and state. Averaging out their salaries to come to a conclusion about the wage scale of all folks living in those cities, counties and states do not mean that there are no larger portions of people in those areas who are struggling to make ends meet imo. All it shows is the average wage scale of the well to do. So what is the wage scale of the not so well to do/struggling folks?

This was news a year ago. You are just repeating stuff. Also Falls Church is a single town, so that skews the report. Prince William as a rich county is a joke. Manassas is a combination of some wealthy people, but their are thousands of legal and illegal immigrants.

Hmmm, the capitol area and politicians are pilfering all the taxes from the citizens to line their own pockets...where oh where have I read about that before?  Oh yeah, the ROMAN EMPIRE.  Washington D.C. = Neo ROME.  Way to repeat history, pigs!

It's disgraceful that there is so much money to be made in Washington DC and surrounding areas.  These leeches produce NOTHING!  They are supposed to be "For the People", yet they blatantly take from the producers, and use our money to buy targeted votes and favors.

It is remindful of Paris in the 1770s;  We now have our very own ineffective Louis XVI, along with his grandiose, lavishly living Marie Antoinette... almost mocking us with their black-tie parties, extraordinarily expensive vacations, and their endless string of Hollywood royal courtiers.

Our politicians are no longer "Of the People";  no longer "By the People", and arrogantly and definitely no longer "For the People".

This is not sustainable.

Just like to point out that some people actually do honest, hard work and earn every single penny who live in those areas.

You have to have money to live in those counties even the worst off in those areas are better off then those that live in West Virginia areas. Economic growth is having a paved road near by to get on and

electricity to the house. If we had jobs closer would help a lot not low paying jobs w/o benefits.
