The former home of author Anne Rice is available for $3.7 million. (© Realtor.com)With Halloween just around the corner, we've cooked up a list of spooky homes for sale with the help of MSN partner Move.com.

If the home shown here tickles your imagination in a way that sends chills down your spine, it may be because it's the mansion that stars in the book series that begins with the "The Witching Hour."

It also happens to be the former New Orleans home of its author, Anne Rice, who is best-known for the book "Interview with the Vampire," which inspired a movie of the same title that starred Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise and Kirsten Dunst.

Prove how big a fan you are by dishing out the $3.7 million for the 8,910-square-foot Greek Revival mansion, which boasts double galleries with antique beveled mirrors, plated ceilings, antique murals and a newly renovated kitchen. If you read the books, you know there's also a gorgeous pool and the lush landscaping that gives the Garden District its name. And it has five bedrooms and seven bathrooms.

If you'd prefer a haunting to memories of a spirit that exists only in books, maybe you should consider shelling out $1.2 million to be the next owner of the historic B&B known as the Surgeon's House in Jerome, Ariz. Does that name give you the willies, too? Maybe I've just seen too many horror movies, though, because Examiner.com says it is merely named after the chief surgeon who lived in the mansion after it was built in 1916.

But still, there's no telling what remained in the 4,400-square-foot home, which has five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms, after Jerome turned into a ghost town in the 1950s. Although the town now boasts hundreds of thousands of visitors a year, many lured by the town's haunted reputation, it sounds as if in addition to the mansion, you might also acquire a few unregistered guests. From Examiner.com:

Some visitors have encountered a ghost of a maid they call Alice. Alice wears a blue uniform dress and is seen in the Maid’s Suite guest room. They speculated that Alice has taken on the maid’s job at the bed and breakfast to assure the guests are comfortable and enjoying their stay.

The owner of the Surgeon’s House has seen a spirit of a man wearing a suit walking into her master bedroom. He was carrying a doctor’s bag and walked nonchalantly into her master bathroom. He changed into his pajamas and faded into thin air as he approached her bed.

Guests in the master suite have witnessed the spirits of an enchanted couple dancing together for several minutes on a moonlit night. Was this the ghosts of the former doctor entertaining guests in their home on Hill Street once again?

If that mansion's price tag is too big for your britches, this $109,600 home in the Old West ghost town of Brisbee, Ariz., will give you easy access to many of the town's famous haunts, including the Copper Queen Haunted Hotel. The one-bedroom, 934-square-foot home was built of stone in 1916, but the wood floors and fireplace are sure to keep you warm when terror strikes.

The home featured in the movie 'Disturbia' is for sale for $990,000. (© Realtor.com)Enough with the hauntings! Prefer thrills instead? Here's another home you might remember, from the 2007 movie "Disturbia" starring Shia LaBeouf. The $990,000 home in Whittier, Calif., has five bedrooms and four bathrooms, and the listing says the historic integrity of the home has been maintained since it was built in 1910.
