Just another manifestation of the obscenity that this sport has become.
Nov 19, 2012 10:27AM

Like usual, we have a group of people flipping out when they don't know what they are talking about. It pays to think with your brain before you let your emotions make you look like an idiot.

Big college football is what pays the price for all the other sports that lose money. It funds student aid and a million other programs. If it wasn't for college football, your tuition would be even higher.

Big programs can bring in around $75 million dollars a year in revenue to the school. The salary for the coaches is a tiny part of that, and it's not coming out of your tuition.

Programs that  regularly lose make less money, and if the program is operating at a loss it means the money does come from your tuition. That's why you spend money to get a good coach and recruit good players. Because it only makes your school better in the end.

But it feels better to go off half-cocked. I guess there just isn't enough to get p!ssed off about today, so we have to make something up.

6237, where did you get this incredible synopsis. You are right on. I choke when I watch pro sports as it is more like professional wrestling with whatever it is they do.  These guys have known each other for years on all levels getting there.  Most end up broke or in jail during before or after.  I will say it...it is the process of self-destructing.  Too many blacks....too many coaches that rely on this recruitment technique.  It actually sickens me and I was there when all this started and knew this would be coming.

and, look at the mess now.  If not for TV sponsors and "goodies" the kids and idiots buy this would never have happened.  One should check out how many of the fans are welfare types.  Sure, call me racist.

how crazy is this. in the pros players make more than coaches. in college coaches make ALL the money.  schools need to get their priorities straight.  .

Need more emphasis on education at institutes of "higher learning" &  MUCH LESS emphasis on sports! college sports are, at best, a corporate enterprise, replete with corruption & "good ole boy...isms"  and..at worst an incessant bane to what should be the inviolable tenets of the realities and vagaries of gainful employment resultant to the educationall process! Need to revert to plain old fashioned physical education in our high schools instead of football and basketball programs as these latter possess almost negative employment value post  high school OR college...Less than a fraction of  one percent of high school or college athletes will EVER  make a dime from professional sports! It follows that the overwhelming preponderance  of a given student body,  is saddled with the additional expense of supporting the entire athletic "program"  for the benefit of a few!! We, for the wrong reasons,  have done this to ourselves and are into the abyss..To ignore this fact is tantamount to  installing $2000.00 worth of 20" wheels on  $500.00 cars! RES IPSA LOQUITUR!

Sickening!!!!  I have no idea how I'm going to help my son pay for college with the fees and costs as crazy as they are and these coaches can afford homes like this?  I think our whole educational system has their priorities skewed.  Deans, Coaches and the like should not be making 6 figures when our boys in uniform are barely above the poverty line.
