FIND YOUR DREAM HOME OR APARTMENT
I live in Seattle and I enjoy contemporary residential architecture. We're seeing more and more of it here. Much of it has become formulaic so very quickly so it's great to see them doing something original. At the same time the question of place, or moreso, placement comes up. Seattle has a bungalow/Craftsman tradition and a lot of wretched 60s/70s homes. It ain't elegant but over time those structures.....live side by side in reasonable harmony. In 40 years how will this home look in this neighborhood? Will it ever "fit in"? Does it need to? I feel sad for the home to the right of this one. It looms over them. I wonder if this couple ever considered their impact on the neighbors or if their vision, creativity and pocketbook made those considerations moot?
What you ppl don't know or fail to realize is that this house was build for show,
and not for ppl living in it 70% of the time, it's a vacation house..
Ppl with money sometimes do things not like normal ppl do..
It's almost like having or buying an expensive art work for ppl to look at something different, wonder, and appreciate the beauty or thought behinds ones imagination in Art or Architecture..
That's if you understand the meaning of creativity, and the realization of without creative ppl, we'll be living in a boring world..
To each their own, but I want my home to have a timeless style. The French, Italian, Spanish & Greek style of architecture will be just as beautiful to future generations as it is to us, just as it was to our grandfathers. An old, or old style home can be updated with modern amenities. I don't know, I guess some people really go for that post modern/industrial/office building look. I spend enough time in an office; I'll be damned if I'm gonna spend $800K to LIVE in one!
