For cloudy water use a clarifier as directed. But get your chemicals in balance.  In Pa I add Baking soda as necessary to get alkalinity up. I add 2 -3 inch Chlorine tabs every tues at about 80 % in the chlorinator.  I have not shocked the pool in 2 years, and I have a clear and problem free pool with no other chemicals 3rd year now and with a solar water heater. It took me 5 years to develop this strategy, and it works!

Hi it is raing a lot here in georgia and the rain keep on lowering the chlorine. So you will need to keep the chlorine up to 7.5 just to keep the green out.Shark the pool every week:)
