I love living in San Marcos :)  Weather is perfect, and it's not as expensive as other parts of Texas!
I pay $500/month for rent for a one bedroom in a nice area.
I pay $25/month to fill up my Prius (thanks Toyota! thanks GasBuddy app)
I pay $25/month for car insurance (from Insurance Panda)
I pay $50/month for cable/internet.
Apart from that.. food is VERY cheap too... much more so than when I lived in NYC.
San Marcos can't be beat  :)

Big or small you can't be New York.  We have it all.  Want a small town country feel go upstate,  want the beaches there's plenty of towns to choose from Long Island to Brooklyn, want parks and recreation there's plenty, want vineyards HELLO Long Island or upstate, want to party there's no place more extreme than New York City, want the theater or shopping, or restaurants you won't find better.  There's something for everyone and you feel alive here, not like those sleepy little towns where life just passes you by.  You can keep your little list.  I've got the best of all worlds right here.

My late grandparents once lived a few miles from Hoboken, even in the fifties they never said much about the city. I do know there are a lot of small towns right next to each other there and its hard to

tell where one begins and another one ends. My late granpa use to take the bus up the fort lee road to New York city, used to hear grandma talk about fort lee. When it was on news lately about the

bridge lanes being closed my ears perked up. They also lived very close to Ozzie and Harriet Nelson

of old tv fame, early years in Teaneck,Nj.

What peace it would be to live amongst the Amish. We should all adopt some of the Amish ways. Would be a better world to live in. Oh yes I am Catholic and I admire the Amish very much.

Let's see, more bars make a place more exciting? These must be the people who make Vegas work, because I've been there and I've been to bars and they aren't worth it.

Ummmm.... News flash! James Buchannan picking up ladies?  The first known gay president picking up ladies?  Really?  When I first read this I thought this part of PA was gay.  It's not.  I've been there many times.  Looks like someone needs to do a little research.

I'm sorry but having spent much time in and around Lancaster PA, I must ask: WTF!?!
During the daylight hours it is clearly a tourist town geared mainly towards the culture of the Amish people, a tranquil and respectable community, yet hardly known for generating any "excitement," and the nightlife scene consists of basically one 4 or 5 block section of the main drag...(?)
To top that off, they really shouldn't include any area that is part of a commonwealth state, such as PA, where every little township has its own set of rules and a little police force just looking to issue citations!
Not to mention, in respect to some of the other comments, how many 30-somethings are really going to have a ton of fun around a bunch of booze fueled college kids?

Perhaps if the lazy interns got off their butts & actually did some real research they could have selected one city in each state.
& frankly "college town" does not make it exciting.
Unless your staff is 20.

I lived in Royal Oak, MI for years & highlighting Luna is a joke. Its a craphole.
Its also been ravaged by the recession, commercially.
Now if this story was 1997-2000 yup, but now. Yawn.

MSNBC should stop ranking cities based on how close they are to the NBC office building.. Get out of New York/New Jersey once in a while, there is an entire country out here. Hoboken NJ...? LMFAO.
