Funny how liberals overlook the fact that the most expensive places to live are liberal enclaves.  For all the shouting and yelling about affordable housing for the poor and racial diversity, it only applies to areas outside where they domicile.  In actuality, the most affordable places to live without government assistance is in red states.  Again, they talk the talk but it ends there.

It's funny how BUTT-hurt Progressive/socialists get when articles like this simply state the outrageous costs of "Utopianism"........

I can almost see the tears in Wallace Torbert's eyes......it hurts, I know, but "Kleen-ex" is still semi- affordable......

FYI Wally: Tears are hard to wipe away, when your nose is pointed "STRAIGHT UP" in the air..

If the fortune 500 companies left NY they have to go somewhere and that somewhere will be a city and that city will become over populated and prices will rise as not everyone will be able to live and work there.  California is an agricultural stae and they need illegals to pick the crops,

Republicans never stop and wonder how they can get agriculture and not have stoop labor.   All these illegals...heck man they work for you.

Seriously folks ever see the movie Deliverance?  Ever see Twelve Years a Slave?  The Help?  All 100% true and if not for 1964 Civil Rights Act the South would still be just like in 1860.

I know, I grew up there in the 1950s.   My folks had slaves and we had many share croppers.  I saw the freedom riders, Old Bull Conner, George Wallace, Ross Barnett.   I saw buses burned, heard about lynchings, saw my grand mother yellig "****"  as she chased the help out of the house when she got mad.  Yup.

Louisiana is known as cancer state with its oil refineries.  Probably why the Exxon CEO is suing a fracking company to keep it away from his farm.

All joking aside, Georgia just approved the rebel flag for their car tags.  Calling it heritage.   Flash, the Nazi Germans just approved the swastica for their car tags calling it German heritage.

Don't I see Louisville and Memphis and Birmingham on First 48 Hours crime show on TV every night?

Kentucky is red neckerson.    Most of the population you can't see their faces in a cloud of tobacco smoke and drunk with Maker's Mark all the time.  Kentucky Derby?  For a few rich and the poor bet their homes and lose them.

You dunces trash the state where capitalism is supreme, New  York, Wall Street, almost all fortune 500 companies.  People come there for a capitalist opportunity to get rich on Wall Street or work in big law firms or work in the home offices of many big corporations.

It is not a socialist land.    It is the hot bed of capitalism and finance.

California offers the best weather and an escape for some old entrepreneur from Minneapolis who froze to death for decades a a and now wants to live in an area where he isn't an eskimo.

Southern states are poor.  The poorest counties in the nation are in the South.  The fattest people too with the most diabetes.  36% obesity rate.  Except for a few old families the South is red necks in trailers, Blacks in housing projects and the plantation overlord in his mansion.

I live in Louisville, KY.  Moved form NY after Cuomo made my .22 rifle illegal.  We are ranked 8 lowest cost city over 500,000.  We have theater, many of the broadway shows come here for a two week runa thte Kentucky theather. Museums, and an emerging restaurant food culture as several chefs have discovered.  Airport is easy to get in and out fo in 15 minutes and I can travel anywhere in USA.  Did I say the Kentucky Derby?  How about the largest fire works show in USA every year?  ZOO, Topped rank colleges.  Great medical college (look up heart and hand transplant). And I bought a 4 bedroom house for under $200,000. Sold my house in NY for $500,000. Got $300,000 now for retirement.  Great fishing wihtin an hour drive at Taylorville Lake..

Really? Wow! According to some of your comments, we should tear down the south and rebuild into what you think is culturally acceptable. Get over yourselves! Trust me, I would much rather live in the South than NY or California. Anyone who didn't have their nose in the air would agree with me. PLEASE STAY IN YOUR STATE! We don't need anymore self-righteous hypocritical idiots who think they are superior because they live in rat-infested overpriced tiny apartments with the lingering smell of smog and urine. You guys have all the social graces of a 5 year old brat.

Like I said, the South is uneducated, especially the politicians.  Govenor of Georgia after the snow storm said last weather report he got was hours before the storm hit.  A reporter informed him that he had and the gov could get too an I phone with instant weather updates.  A whut?   One dem dare new fangle thangs...it's a devil's instrument.

Tennessee was listed as the worst state for retirees.  And pretty much the worst period.  I disagree, West Virginia with its life expectancy of 64 years is the worst and now you can't bathe there or get potable drinking water.  Think Deliverance with West Virginia and Kentucky where 50% smoke 4 packs a day and swim in arsenic laden rivers with coal slurry in it.

Required in the South:  Guns at church, sister dating, proof of being a pure Arian, more guns, trailer living, at least a 7th grade education, I love Rush button, membership in John Burch Society, post rebel flag in yard.

Essex County, Mass. costs more as the people there earn

more.  Just drive through Lynn or Prides-Crossing some day

and catch the average home!!

Oh yeah, cross burnings can be a great family outing in the South.  Picnic baskets and hang a Black scarecrow.  Bobby Sue and Bobby Joe.  Must give kids two first names and be an Alabama fan and wear only Alabama garb all year long, to bed, weddings, heck even funerals.

If you are happy with shootin deer move to the Republican states.   In the South that is all they do, besides work and WalMart and shop there.  No museums, art,.

Depends on what you are happy with in life.  Nebraska?   Better be happy with a hoe down once a month.  Montana?  Cabin fever most of year.

Florida?  Sunshine, fishing, tourism.   gun nuts.  Stay away from movies.

The USA might become a great country again if they could get rid of NY & CA.
