Funny how they are mentioning Washington Mutual laying off thousands of employees, many of us had financed our homes through Washington Mutual.  As soon as Chase showed up and showed us the door - they also closed the door to any type of negotiation.  I lost my job 8 months ago, and with three kids in tow we are about to lose our home - I have been looking for a job every single day, I've been on hundreds of interviews and not a single one pays what I was making before.  With over 20 years in clerical skills, executive level - I am facing losing my home even though for 7 years straight I made my payment on time and even sent in extra every month.  Now I find my home is worth over $250K less than what I owe and Chase has "lost" my modification request now FOUR times.  Where exactly is all of this "BAILOUT" money going?  It sure isn't going to help any of the homeowners that actually want to keep their home, like me.  Maybe I should listen to the many people trying to advise me in telling me to just walk away from it.  I just can't do it though, I love my home and my kids love it too.  It's a modest, smaller, older home but it's where we are comfortable (or at least how we used to feel).  It seems like Chase is not willing to negotiate at all.  What do I do?  Where do I turn?  I've thrown thousands and thousands of dollars of my hard-earned money into paying my mortgage and instead of paying it down, the balance just kept going up and the value down.  And now, 8 months have gone by - I've gone through my severance pay, my savings and all the money I borrowed from relatives to try and get by.  I have nothing left and no one to turn to, and each time I spend the $15.00 to send a certified modification package to Chase, they have lost it.  It doesn't matter that I have confirmation numbers and signature names - they're not concerned with any sort of papertrail, it's as if they are above the law.  Anybody have any idea out there what I can do?  Please - any suggestions would be appreciated.

Dear Irma in CA, This is truly tragic and my heart goes out to you. You are another victim of the Weasels of Wall Street, the bankers and brokers who sold the same mortages over and over and should be in jail for it. Yes it was and is a culture of greed and dog eat dog mentality. Fortunately many got kicked in the ass, and perhaps be enlightened by it. Unfortunately I don't think they will ever understand we all breath the same air, drink the same water and have only one planet to live on. Beside that theoritical dribble from me, I'd strongly suggest you take the best job you can get at the moment. From there work up to a better job when it becomes available. Deal with the bank (scum) in a face to face manner. If possible go there don't cut them any slack, deal with them like they dealed with you. Seems you got your house when the prices were high, not much you can do about that now. Aslso suggest you seek a mortgage modification professional or program, DO NOT PAY for it. Currently there are a lot of scams, seek associations or government programs for this.  My prayers are with you and your family. Please keep you faith in your ability to overcome.

Best Regards

dear sir,im sorry you are losing your home.i know about 50 friend,s that are in the same boat,i feel for them 2.the problem is that greed played a big part in the bank,s,reator,s etc, the are the ones who should be put in jail for running up the house prices, telling everybody ,you better take this house now at $250,000.00 or next week it will be more or someone else will take it. they they made you so afraid of loseing out that you fell for thier trick,s,and now every body is paying for thier greed.with house prices droping & now they are not making the big money they were.im paying more for a car loan because of this . and forget about the money market acc, 1.25% is all im getting, when i should be getting at least 3%,but because of the banks have to make up for there problem,s the people that did not buy that house for $250,000.00 " like me" are paying 2 . i realy feel for you & my friend,s that fell for this house of card,s.and the greedy banker,s that did this ,i would say that they might have learned there lesson but "greed will still be in the banker,s heart "  not forgiveness ,     peace & love ,,,,, john,Sad

Hi! I am writing to say that credit card companies only care about themselves. I had a citi bank credit card once paid it off totally and then never was late and they cancelled me for having bad credit rating, then continued on to raise my payments three times as much as I was paying. So now that my husband has lost his job and is on unemployment, my company is working 4 days, we have very little money to pay all the bills. Just let one card go late and they triple your payment like you were always late but were not. It should be illegal for them to do this and they get bailed out. What about us hardworking Americans what do we get ??
