Amazing how "row homes" can go for so much money. I guess, "Location, Location, Location" is the answer. But gosh, only a few sq. feet of space and they go for these ridiculous prices? In Atlantic City two blocks from new Casinos, you can get a 3 floor
Condo for $700,000 with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms two showers, kitchen, view of the Bay,
restaurants two blocks away, etc. etc.

This is just a great example of how ridiculous the market can be.

$1M for a 1900s house? Does it come with some 1900s pictures or sculptures? How about a nice stamp collection? Did they mention the extra $200K to replace pipes, heating, lead paint, big etc here?
This is a crazy market.

I would love to know where they're getting the examples they're using for Los Angeles. South Central? Or WAY out in Santa Clarita, 2 hours away? A 6,000 square foot house for a million? Only if you're willing to be stuck in traffic 3 hours a day. I live in West Hollywood and a house behind me which is a wonderful 2+1 with a pool and a 1+1 guest house was listed at 1.25 last year and is now on a short sale at $800K. Most houses in the neighborhood are 2-3 bedrooms and around the same price point. Most are around 1500-2000 square feet. There are a lot of foreclosures you can get in the valley. Prices used to be around $600,000 for a 3-4 bedroom house about 2 years ago, and are now closer to $450,000. Forclosures are a risky buy, but can be had for closer to the $300K mark or lower. But then, you'd have to live in valley (usually North Hollywood) which is HOT and mostly concrete strip malls!

Some of us think that older houses have character. Things were built better then, too. Copper pipes, hardwood floors, etc.

For $1M...I liked the one in Vegas!
For $1M...the least pleasant to me was Boston.
