I live in Los Angeles and I pay $1100 for a 1 bedroom apartment. I cannot wait to move out of this city. There is work here, but everything is too expensive.

Missouri has some nice lakes and some reasonable rents close to them.  Jobs on the other hand are pretty seasonal.

Denver is my vote, as well.  What a beautiful city and the people are so nice and giving.  I'm never going to leave.  We have it all here, mountains, plains, desert, lakes with crystal water.   Incredible wildlife and fantastic skiing.  The weather is great.  The winters are not bad at all, and the spring and summer month's just unbelievable.

SadI am very disgusted about how when people are losing their homes, that no one will enable people to rent a house within a reasonable rent amount, and also allowing people to keep their well trained pets that they've had all their lives.   It is also intolerable that people are trying to scam rent from people; make them get rid of their pets , endure the pain and hassle of moving in the first place and then to turn around and find out that it was a SCAM and then have to move again....   you just can't trust anyone.....and so to all of you that are in the same shape as we are,  PLEASE BE AWARE...........

Thanks for letting me vent to everyone.........If someone would like to take the time to write me back, that would be most appreciated........I hope everyone is having a better day than I am......

I am surprised that Charlotte Nc did not make this list.  You can buy a really nice home for the price  some of you are listing for rent.  check it out for yourself at www.realtor,com  put in Charlotte Nc and list 3+ bedrooms  and 1.5+ baths,   set the price range for 100000-125000 and see how many nice homes you find at a low cost to you with excellent sq feet. The town is really nice & the weather is ok as well.  There are plenty of activities.  Any town can be nice if you have a positive open mind.

Funny. I grew up in East Hartford, Connecticut.

Unless you were to rent right there in downtown Hartford, I don't think you would want to live there at all.

Hartford, Connecticut is a very dangerous city with a bulk of it being lower middle class and high crime.

But What about the floods and tornadoes in the midwest ? its cheaper but the risk of mother natures wrath out weights the benefits, perhaps im wrong. Yet you see this disasters in the mid west on tv and the news.

I can appreciate trying to find the most economical places to live..........but let's face it we tend to live where we want. For me, Huntington Beach, CA is it. I wouldn't trade it for any other place other than Denver, CO. The housing market isn't cheep, which is good (population control)" Look where you are living." You get almost 365 days of sunshine, great surf and great people. By the way.... who are the Jones'?
