Many of these are major renovations!..... with new windows or wider passageways. And at times I hardly recognized the made over room. It seemed to bear very little resemblance to the original. How can you call these changes "budget friendly" is beyond me.

you know how you can save money? do it yourself! get someone that knows and also read up on the job that has to be done and study it.i have a house and in my basement i have a workshop.tablesaw and a work bench and plenty of tools I've bought to do a certain job. My wife learned how to cut wood,sheetrock,paint and trim. Do floor tiles and so on. If you just want things nice in your place and cant afford it get off your butt and make it happen. And the main thing is learn and learn.

I have paneling in my house and want to re do it. The only problem is the house is my mother in laws and she added onto the house for us and put up new paneling from the hallway to the rest of the rooms. The only place that has the old paneling is the living room and kitchen. I really want to do something but I'm afraid that if I paint the living room and kitchen it won't look right. The hallway is close to both the living room and kitchen. Any suggestions?

ok first off half of these "renovations" aren't even the same house. lots of them are pictures they found(before) on the internet then pictures posted in what looks like home improvement magazines(after). Who ever created this tried and failed miserably at matching up same window placements and fireplace placements.
People look at these things for believable and frugal renovations, if we wanted to look at unbelievable and expensive renovations we'd watch HGTV on the home swap shows. I am very disappointed in MSN.
