Here is just some basic information for everyone when looking into plants for their yards.  Hope this helps. 

French Hydrangeas — Leaves and bulbs contain hydragin, which can cause dermatitis, vomiting, abdominal pains, diarrhea, labored breathing, lethargy and coma in both children and pets.

Marigolds - Edible but have a bitter flavor.  The signet marigold can be harmful to both humans and pets if eaten in large amounts.  Marigolds are used as an herbal remedy for skin inflammation.
Mandevillas - There are white and crimson species.  Both are poisonous to both humans and pets.  It is advised to avoid the plant in children's and pet's presence.

Morning Glories - Contain neurotoxins, which can cause fatal circulatory collapse.

Lilies - Harmful to cats, dogs horses and children.  In pets it will cause vomiting, diarrhea and depression.

A lot of you are probably thinking, "What kind of pet, human or child would stick plants in their mouths?"  But it happens.  Just thought this might help.

Plants may temporarily shut down water intake during the heat of the day, and will still appear wilted even after watering.  Do not add more water at this time, as the plants will take up the water they need later when temperatures cool down towards the end of the day.

Just applying surface watering is usually insufficient for the plant’s needs, as that shallow water quickly evaporates with little or no significant water uptake. Water that travels down to and below deep roots  will later “wick” up as the surface soil dries, thus providing the entire root system access to additional water.
