There is a place in SW Colorado (near 4 corners) that a fellow excavated about 40-50 years ago I believe, using dynamite. The original living space was in excess of 4,000 sq. ft.

Today his family runs about 2,000 sq. ft. as a museum/display facility, and one of them lives in the balance of the residence. Pretty cool. Been there once to wander around. Want to go back when I have more time and do a serious walk-around. Was limited on time the first time around.

Cannot remember the name of the place though. I can drive to it! LOL!!!

My Dream is an Earth Shelter Home, Toured a Couple in MN, built by Earth Sheter tech .com I love em! Talked with an Owner, heats his house on 4 face cord of wood all year! Just repaced his furnace, it rusted out from non-use. I can live with this!!

Geothermal homes are efficient.  They are green...  I have been dreaming about my own underground home for energy savings.  These homes can be built off grid and use fuel oil, propane, wood, or supplemental power...

The more thought we put into designs like thyese the closer we are to econcomic independence.  This is an investment in Green, American, Efficiency.

i'm there and i'm down.

I love looking at these things.  Sure, I'm struggling, along with millions of others, but it's still cool to see and dream.

*I also have to wonder how much it would suck to be them if there were an earthquake nearbySarcastic

I love looking at these homes!  It inspires me and my husband to work harder towards our ultimate goal of having a home that could some day be a part of these articles.

So, in essence - get a job!

I concur. Having been unemployed for the last 2-1/2 years. Viewing the opulent lifestyles of those posted on MSN infuriates me.

I think it's super cool and extra classy that msn keeps rubbing this stuff in our faces.. the richest this.. and the most expensive that...

Considering that since our elected officials have long since beaten our manufacturing base right out of the country and saddled us with so much debt we'll never be able to repay it - and now the only "American Dream" is simply one of survival...   Great job msn! Another keen attempt at relevant reporting!
