How much house will $1 million buy?
Atlanta
- 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms
- Year built: 1999
- Price: $999,999
This home offers a rare combination of seclusion and privacy in the heart of the city, real-estate agent Cheri Riley says. It is about 10 minutes from the Buckhead shopping and dining district, is less than a mile from top public schools and is on nearly 2 landscaped acres that are fenced and gated with walled entry, a circular drive and a motor court.
This brick custom-built home has six fireplaces, five bedrooms, five baths and an attached three-car garage. The master bedroom has a sitting room with a double-sided fireplace and an updated bath. On the lower level, entertain guests in a poker and pool room and on a large screened porch with a complete kitchen and outdoor fireplace. An unfinished guest house could be used for storage or a home office.
"This property has been on the market for collectively over a year, but it started out at $1.6 million and has had a dramatic price reduction," Riley says. "The house is surprisingly efficient in size, considering all the special features of the home, and has been continuously updated and renovated since it was built in 1999."
