To the one who commented on my writing skills, I feel sad for you, DIAFAN.  I really do feel sad, due to the fact you didn't like the way I wrote, I feel bad for your friends who have issues with writing as well.  I lived in AZ, and each year I spend 2 months, going down and looking for that home.  Maybe someday have a family.  I look at the communities, for schooling, I look at if it is or not to far from major intersections, AND BOY DOES PHOENIX HAVE THEM.   I look at places that have the best schools, to raising a family there.

DIAFAN, you need to grow up.  Sorry I am not at your skill level.  BUT REALLY, what is wrong with you, that you must hate me because of my writing.  THIS IS FOR YOU...

I am looking for a Texas coastal town where my children are not a minority and I do not need to be able to speak Spanish to get a job.  I want to live in a city or town where the majority of the people are Caucasian.  I have traveled all over the US and grew up in San Antonio, Texas and in my travels I have found that the more Hispanics or African Americans there are in a city or neighborhood the higher the crime rate is, the worse the schools are, the town is covered in graffiti and trash, the people are rude, the higher the teen pregnancy is, the children and teens are disrespectful and mean to each other and there are more gangs.  I know I will probably get a lot of hate responses to this statement however if anyone can show me a town or city that is predominately Hispanic or African American and all my above observations are incorrect, I will eat my words.  But until then, can someone recommend a town where the majority is Caucasian?  Over the last 10 years, San Antonio has become a Welfare town and therefore the predominate race has increasingly become more Hispanic and African American.  There are a lot of people that moved here from Louisiana after the hurricanes and unfortunately the majority of them were moved here by the government which means they are welfare recipients.  In addition, there are a lot of illegal immigrants from Mexico here because our government does not require you to be a legal resident of the US to obtain welfare.  Unfortunately where ever there is free money, food and housing, the more Hispanics and African Americans you have in the area and then the higher the crime rate is.  Very few of them work and if they do, they are extremely rude.  San Antonio has the worst customer service anywhere, except for maybe Detroit.

Wizzy

We here in the Great Lakes State think we are bountiful in all the amenities of livlihoods worth endeavoring into.  Not only did we create a great outdoorsman living space, but we have used our ingenuity in coming back in the direction of natural habitats and resources since the decline of our

automobile industry. We say, "Thumbs Up!

Morton Grove....it couldn't qualify for anything...there HS isn't ranked that well in the state and in the US I'm not sure it ranks in the top 400.  Way to much congestion....basically an awful place compared with Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, etc.

Good Morning to my fellow Campers of Anytown USA~ Question: How many times you read a news report or watched on the television, about a seemingly normal person completely losing it(going postal) and...murdering his/her entire family?
As long as mankind groups together into a sleepy little village/a small town where everyone knows everything about you and humongus (Rat Race) city... crime is just a factor in life. Stats can blur ... any research. (Percentage of population with number of crimes).
Whether you live in 'Smallville or Metropolis ' we'll have misdemanor/felony acts of crime. As for me...when I think of safe to live... I avoid reading about crime rates, natural disasters, the cost of housing etcetera etc. Bottom line...I watch local/national weather reports. If fear the wrath of Mother Nature more than the evil deeds people can do to each other.
Have a nice day!
Play nice with others.
Love thy neighbor...but don't get caught.

I am happy raising my kids in NC. Where we live is so much better than any of those places ever mentioned. Most of those places either have tornadoes, high suicide rate or crime. Is that what kids ought to be raised in nowadays? Sorry, not my cup of tea. My kids go to a fantastic school. Look it up sometime. It's called...Clyde Erwin Magnet Elementary School...and it has international studies, robotics, and so much more to offer. My kid is on the way to getting a scholarship soon and gets straight A's. The crime rate is decreasing because more citizens are getting involved with neighborhood watch programs. Plus marines carry guns in their houses and don't let people break in. Camp Lejeune is nearby and that's another positive thing.

When I clicked on the link for this story, I didn't realize that it was going to be a bunch of soulless suburbs and small towns.  The best they can boast is that they are "near" cities, but in most cases the cultural amenities of the town are limited, you have to drive to the nearby city on highways, and you live in a white upper-middle-class bubble.

I can't believe that the person who compiled this list did not include any real cities.  Talk about a cultural bias.

I dont understand why the best place to rise children have to be a small city or even a village??Ok,there is a neighborhood, safety etc,but comparing to the todays world those kids will have a lack of knowledge about so many things, and when (if)they need to face the true world is not gona be easy for them.Bcs oportunities, and development are in the big cities, unfortunatly people cant  just live in a quiet places and expect to have a progress.I suggest trying to make the city better place to rise our children.

I took a look at this list and would agree that the list seems to have significant flaws.  I live in North Carolina and the city I live in has been ranked in the top 10 places to live with a reputable source.  I am actually glad our city didn't make the list because it draws more attention for people to move to North Carolina.

Hopefully everyone will now migrate to the suburbs of Chicago so we can keep our own southern piece of heaven from growing out of control.

These lists only serve to attract dysfunctional parents with bad kids, who in turn make life miserable for those who were there first.
