Some of these places are in the bay, a lake and some face the ocean but one thing they all have in common is the people are rich who live at those places. Yes I would be happy if I had the 5 to 10 million dollars to relocate, as many of these places will cost that much.

Why is everybody so upset about where to live or places to visit. Enjoy Life...go to the Patagonia and the Aconcagua Peak in Argentina...or the Iguazu Falls in Brazil and see nature to the maximum! I am a South American who has visited many of the Beautiful places in the United States and still continue doing it. Why go to Cancun or Mazatlan in Mexico when you can go to Cannes, Paris, Monaco, Milan, Roma, Frankfort, Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro or perhaps New York, San Francisco, Carmel, New Orleans and Miami? Life is Short...travel and enjoy Life!

Apparently you just know where are the whorehouse in Ecuador, for that reason you express yourself that way for a country known worldwide for its flora, fauna and tourist places. Sure that's a lot of knowledge for you because if you ever had the fortune to know Ecuador you dedicated yourself only to look for places like your home.

No one did their research, I'm from Illinois and the Chicago area is NOT seaside! How does the writer know these are the happiest cities? Oh I forgot he has a happy meter. If I had listened to you guys I would now be living above a whorehouse in Ecuador instead of beautiful Costa Rica.

Ever hear of Carmel by the Sea? True paradise. No crime, no traffic, pristine beaches, terrific restaurants and shopping. Close but not too close to San Francisco and the Silicon Valley. Wonderful, temperate climate and the friendliest folks you could ask for!

Illinois? Seaside town? Who ever wrote this obviously did not visit any of these places. Laguna Beach Ca. is overpriced and over crowded.(you'll need a second vacation after staying there) Hawaii only has 1 on this list, really?

Remember when research and accuracy was important in reporting?
