Plenty of space
Thanks to Monte-Silo's bed-in-a-box systems, there's plenty of room, day and night. The beds also include stereo sound and flat-screen monitors. No compromise on creature comforts here.

Half-circle house in Mill Valley, Calif.
The Radius House, designed by architect Daniel J. Liebermann, was built in 1958. At the time, Liebermann, who had been an apprentice to Frank Lloyd Wright, was only 28. The crescent-shaped dwelling was built on a radial frame with curving exterior walls. The house features exposed beams made from Douglas fir reclaimed from a bridge in Ukiah, Calif. Its skylights were salvaged from World War II bombers.

Prefab in Pszczyna, Poland
Built from natural materials and designed to use renewable energy, this cylinder-shaped home, called the Standard House, has an inviting wooden exterior and a two-story interior. Robert Konieczny of KWK Promes in Poland came up with the idea. Its clever shape looks good on building lots of any shape or size, and its interior can be customized by an owner, creating as many, or as few, rooms as desired.

Roll with it in Germany
This tiny rolling home changes its function depending on what rolls to the top. At 180 degrees, the work-and-living area becomes a bedroom; its mattress is held in place using Velcro. The little dwelling also has a wet section with a toilet, sink and stove. The sink is integrated into the wall and the toilet has hinges, which means it’s never upside down.

Spirit Spheres in Qualicum Beach, British Columbia
Deep in Vancouver Island's rain forest, this unexpected treehouse is available to tourists for overnight stays. Free Spirit Spheres — there are three from which guests can choose — are hand-crafted dwellings suspended from webs made of rope. Movement inside the sphere causes a gentle rocking that mimics the greater sway of treetops.

Bubble house in France
Designed by French designer Pierre Stephane Dumas, the CristalBubble is an eco-friendly dwelling that allows you to sleep under the stars and awake at first light — but still stay dry in the rain and warm if it snows. Manufactured using eco-friendly recyclable materials that block ultraviolet rays, the bubble is easily assembled using a quiet pump that maintains a constant pressure within its walls.
