Which celebrity’s home has been for sale?
By Leah L. Culler of MSN Real Estate
Our society is fascinated with celebrities. Who is dating whom? Did he really spend that much on a bottle of wine? I can't believe she wore that in public.
Plenty of celebrities love their status symbols. Nice cars, designer outfits, expensive restaurants — and amazing homes.
We've gathered some homes of A-list celebrities, so read these clues and see if you can figure out who calls — or once called — each of these places home. We'll give you the answers, and some hints, with Bing.

Which celebrity’s home has been for sale?
A Yankees superstar
This Major League Baseball third baseman put his Miami Beach home on the market for $38 million less than a year after having it built. The home on Biscayne Bay has nine bedrooms and 11 bathrooms and was built by Todd Michael Glaser (find pictures of some of his designs). It has all the bells and whistles you'd expect in a home of its size — 20,000 square feet — and it comes with a huge perk if you're a fellow baseball player: an indoor batting cage. He had the house built with his girlfriend at the time (who?), and perhaps their split had something to do with him parting ways with the home.

A country-music legend
The iconic singer-songwriter who penned "The Gambler" took a big gamble earlier this year when he decided to sell his 150-acre retreat in Athens, Ga.,via auction. The auction was canceled at the last minute after a buyer picked up the 5,681-square-foot home that the country star built in 2009. He sold it fully furnished, including a Sea-Doo, trampoline, zip line and pontoon boats.

A murdered fashion designer
This fashion designer lived and died in this Miami Beach home, one of the most expensive that has ever gone on the market in the United States. His name has been a symbol of high fashion and good taste since before he was gunned down on the steps of his mansion in 1997 (by whom?). The home, with an original asking price of $125 million, has been used as a residence and as a boutique hotel since then.

A well-known aviator
OK, so he never lived there, but this business magnate, aviator and philanthropist crashed his plane into this home in Beverly Hills, Calif., in 1946. The incident — he also crashed into a couple of other neighborhood homes — was re-enacted in a 2004 film (which one?). The XF-11 took out the home's garage all those years ago, and the home still doesn't have one.

Which celebrity’s home has been for sale?
A television icon
This one might seem like a "gimme," but no, this home's former owner was not Fred Flintstone. (Do you know who did his voice in the original animated cartoon?) The owner of this home was the man who first came to fame as host of "American Bandstand" (watch clips) and later hosted a fabulous New Year's Eve party, which he kept up every year until his death in April (who will host it now?).

A makeup maven
If you're not sure who could have lived amid so much pink, we'll give you a small hint: She may have driven a Cadillac of the same hue. This cosmetic queen's home in Dallas went on the market earlier this year for more than $3 million; it's now down to $2.8 million. At 11,874 square feet, there would be a lot of redecorating to do if you're not a fan of the color scheme, which includes including at least one pink marble bathroom. Outside, the acre-plus grounds have koi ponds and fountains.
Which celebrity’s home has been for sale?
An acclaimed author
This Nobel Prize-winning author lived in this Oak Park, Ill., home as a boy and again upon his return from World War I after being injured. In addition to his 1954 Nobel Prize for literature, he received the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1953, and he was considered a strong influence on 20th-century literature (what was his first masterpiece?). The home, which his mother had built in 1906, had been converted into three apartments at the time of its sale earlier this year.

Which celebrity’s home has been for sale?
A former president
This property comprising 142 acres in Texas Hill Country was once a hunting ranch for the 36th president of the United States. An 11,000-square-foot outbuilding was converted to house an art studio and galleries when an Italian-born artist (who?) bought the ranch in 1999. The new homeowner used the galleries and the grounds to showcase his art, as well as the art of others. When the ranch went on the market earlier this year, more than 100 large pieces of sculpture dotted the grounds.

A former Hollywood couple
These two stars were happily married when they bought this midcentury modern home in Los Angeles. But shortly after they paid $2.9 million for it, the marriage ended. They had enough time to add solar panels and other eco-friendly touches before things went south.

A former first couple
Here's another home that a former president inhabited, but this one hasn't changed much since he and his wife (who was she?) bought it in 1978, the year after he left office. The home in Rancho Mirage, Calif., was listed for $1.699 million earlier this year and has five bedrooms and seven bathrooms. It comprises 6,316 square feet on 1.37 acres and overlooks a beautiful golf course.
Which celebrity’s home has been for sale?
A polarizing singer
OK, this home wasn't for sale, but it was the subject of a bitter court battle. The rocker involved in the dispute was almost evicted from the $27,000-a-month New York townhouse, but she prevailed earlier this year. Her landlord had claimed that she ruined the home's interior, but a judge dismissed the suit. The rock star and sometime actress (to whom was she once married?) moved shortly after the court case was resolved.
Which celebrity’s home has been for sale?
Ol' Blue Eyes
A number of famous people lived in and visited this home, but we'll go with the legendary crooner and actor who lived there for about 10 years. He also apparently sublet the home to an iconic actress (which one?), who may or may not have met a former president there.
Which celebrity’s home has been for sale?
Two Hollywood BFFs
The screenwriting duo behind an Oscar-winning film (which one?) rented this odd abode while they were working on the screenplay. They were still just a couple of struggling actors in the 1990s when they rented the modest four-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Los Angeles. When it was listed for sale late last year, it was described in the listing as a "Hansel-and-Gretel-inspired, medieval storybook-style house." Sounds pretty weird, but it must have been inspiring for those guys.
Which celebrity’s home has been for sale?
A longtime couple
This three-acre compound in Beverly Hills, Calif., is one of seven purchased and lived in by the American comedian and her Australian actress wife in the past seven years. But this home is where they got married, so it might be among their favorites. The main house is 9,200 square feet, and there are also a separate three-bedroom house and two guest houses, a pool and great city views.
